Beginning with the July 20, 2026, Board of Trustees meeting, the School District of Newberry County will use Diligent Community's platform as the official location for Board meeting live streams, agendas, supporting documents, and related meeting resources.

Crossing the state to earning a wage:
An on-site hiring event for Midlands graduating seniors to potentially select entry-level career positions through on-the-spot interviews with local employers.

Students must provide their own transportation
Professional dress is required.

Interviewing:
Students will bring their resumes and interview with employers of interest for entry level career positions in the Midlands region.

Networking:
Employers, future graduates and educators will have the opportunity to make connections regarding workforce needs and opportunities.

Soft Skill Building:
Interview experiences will enable graduating seniors to improve soft skills such as communication, critical thinking, and problem solving as they are met with a variety of pertinent employment questions.

Attention SENIORS ONLY: "High School to Hired" event will be held on May 1 at Segra Park in Columbia
This event will host many employers from the Midlands who plan to conduct on-site interviews for students who plan to directly enter the workforce after graduation.

Below are some key details:
Transportation: Participants will need to provide their own transportation to and from the event.
Registration: Pre-registration is required for all interested students (QR code included on flyer).
District Career Development Facilitator, Jennifer Moore will meet with all students prior to the event to ensure that they have an updated resume and professional attire.

Newberry Football Spring Practice Dates for Grades 9-11
If you have not played a sport this year, you must have an updated physical. Dates are May 4-7, 11-14, from 3:45 PM to 5:30 PM.

SC Endo of Course Examination Program
The End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) is a statewide assessment program for specific courses awarding units of credit in English/language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Additionally, scores must be counted as 20% of the final grade in the aligned course. EOCEP test items are written to assess the knowledge and skills described in the academic standards. Links to the standards are provided by clicking on the course names above. Please note when testing sessions will occur and make arrangements to ensure attendance for the exam.

Testing Dates: All Applicable Courses
English 2 Writing: May 7

Per SCDE guidelines, during testing, students may not be in possession of any electronic devices that can be used for communicating, timing, creating images, or storing images. These devices include but are not limited to cellphones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, e-readers, and any other electronic device not used for testing*. Devices will be collected by the test administrator and returned after testing is complete. To learn more about investigation and discipline procedures related to electronics use during state testing, please review this guidance document (https://bit.ly/statetestingelectronics).
*This restriction does not apply to medical devices documented and approved for use during testing in a student’s IEP, 504 Plan, or Individual Health Plan.
