I AM NEWBERRY HIGH

From the Principal:

Dear Bulldogs,

Welcome to semester two of the 2023-2024 school year! The spring semester always flies by, so

buckle up and work hard to finish strong. In this Bulldog Monthly, we will discuss College and

Career Readiness. On the 2022-2023 South Carolina State Report Card, Newberry High School earned

13.44 out of 25 possible points for College and/or Career Readiness. Points are awarded for the

percentage of graduating students who are deemed College and/or Career Ready. Last year 53.8% of

our graduates fell in this category. Our goal for the 2023-2024 school year is to increase this

number to 65%. NHS has numerous practices in place to reach all students and offer more

opportunities for students to become College and/or Career Ready.

These include:

  • WIN Wednesday (focus on WIN Work Readiness curriculum and testing preparation) Internship

opportunities

  • Collaboration with the Newberry County Career Center Dual Enrollment with Piedmont Technical

  • College SAT/ACT on campus for all juniors

  • AP courses on campus and collaborative courses with MCHS

Newberry High School will continue to strive to ensure that all of our students are prepared for

their post-secondary endeavors. Being deemed as College and/or Career Ready creates a solid

foundation for our graduates and future leaders. We look forward to continuing to work with our

parents, guardians, and community members to support our Bulldogs in all areas of education.

Sincerely,

Sarah E. Harvey, Principal
