Kyle Cannon

Mr. Cannon began his career in education here in the School District of Newberry County. He taught middle school social studies for 4.5 years at Whitmire Community School. He also served as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Head Wrestling Coach while at WCS. He then transferred to Mid-Carolina High School where he taught high school social studies for 4 years, as well as serving as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach and Head Wrestling Coach. Mr. Cannon began his administrative work here at Newberry High School in 2011, serving as an Assistant Principal for 5 years before being named the Principal in 2016. He is married to Kristina Cannon, who is also an educator here in the School District of Newberry County and they have identical twin sons, Jackson and Coleman, which he finds to be a strange coincidence, considering he is an identical twin himself. Outside of school Mr. Cannon's passions are cooking, anything involving the South Carolina Gamecocks, the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his family.

Sarah Harvey

Sarah Harvey is new to the NHS adminstrative team for 2017-2018 school year.  Ms. Harvey taught 3 years at Mid-Carolina Middle School as a social studies teacher. Previously, Ms. Harvey taught social studies at South Aiken High School, Midland Valley High School, and Clinton High School. She has obtained her Education Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Liberty University, her Masters degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, and her Bachelors of Art in Education from the University of South Carolina Aiken. While at USC Aiken, Ms. Harvey competed on the Pacer softball team. Ms. Harvey was born and raised in Newberry and is honored to return to the school she graduated from. She has been a proud Bulldog her entire life, and she is looking forward to cheering the Bulldogs on every chance she gets.

Amanda Finley

Amanda Finley has been an Assistant Principal at NHS for over five years. She enjoys working with students, parents, and teachers at Newberry High in her role as Assistant Principal. Mrs. Finley started her career in education at Newberry Middle where she taught for 14 years. In 2006, she was named Teacher of the Year, and was also selected as the Teacher of the Year for the School District of Newberry County in 2007. While working at NHS, she finds it very rewarding to reconnect with her former students as they become driven, successful young adults during their high school years. Mrs. Finley studied at Covenant College where she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and master's degree in Educational Leadership. She is married to Lonnie Finley and has a son, John Weston. In addition to following the NHS Bulldog sports teams, the Finleys enjoy going to USC games and cheering for Gamecock football, basketball, and baseball.

Benjamin Washington

Benjamin Washington is new to the NHS administrative team for the 2018-2019 school year. Mr. Washington taught social studies at E.L. Wright Middle International Baccalaureate School for five years in Richland County District Two. Additionally, he served as assistant principal at Bishopville Primary School in Lee County School District for one year prior to coming to Newberry High. He has obtained his Bachelors in Secondary Education and Masters in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC. Furthermore, he obtained his Masters in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University and Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership from Wingate University and plans to graduate with a Doctor of Educational Leadership from Wingate in the fall of 2018. Mr. Washington enjoys playing chess, running, and learning about cultures from around the world.
