Amanda Finley, Principal

Amanda Finley was an Assistant Principal at NHS for over five years. She enjoys working with students, parents, and teachers at Newberry High in her role as Assistant Principal. Mrs. Finley started her career in education at Newberry Middle where she taught for 14 years. In 2006, she was named Teacher of the Year, and was also selected as the Teacher of the Year for the School District of Newberry County in 2007. While working at NHS, she finds it very rewarding to reconnect with her former students as they become driven, successful young adults during their high school years. Mrs. Finley studied at Covenant College where she earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and master's degree in Educational Leadership. She is married to Lonnie Finley and has a son, John Weston. In addition to following the NHS Bulldog sports teams, the Finleys enjoy going to USC games and cheering for Gamecock football, basketball, and baseball.

Mr. Bui joins the NHS admin team for the 2020-2021 school year.  His experience includes teaching ESOL and Social Studies at Concord High School in New Hampshire, Gilbert High School and Pelion High School.  In addition to teaching, he has served as an Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Middle School Head Wrestling Coach and Head JV Girls Soccer Coach.  Mr. Bui obtained a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Maine and Master in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina.  Outside of school, he enjoys anything relating to history, sports, and traveling.

Dr. Washington is new to the Newberry High School administrative team for the 2018-2019 school year. Dr. Washington taught social studies at E.L. Wright Middle International Baccalaureate School for five years in Richland County District Two. Additionally, he served as assistant principal at Bishopville Primary School in Lee County School District for one year prior to coming to Newberry High. He has obtained his Bachelors in Secondary Education and Masters in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg, SC. Furthermore, he obtained his Masters in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, and Educational Specialist and Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Wingate University in Charlotte, NC. In his free time, he enjoys playing chess, running, and learning about cultures from around the world.
