I received a B.A. in Social Work from Columbia College.  Later, after realizing my path in life is to teach, I returned to school at Georgia State University where I received an M.Ed. in Education.  Believing in lifelong learning and striving to be the best I can be, I continued my education at Georgia State University and received an Educational Specialist degree with an admistrative supervision ad on.  I also completed my portfolio for National Board Certification and received my initial certification in 2001. Just last year, I again received National Board Certification.  Additionally, I have also received certification in Reading Recovery and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).

Throughout my years of teaching, I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Third Grade, Reading Recovery, Reading Intervention, ESOL, and reading in summer school. For six years, I was one of two reading specialists/coaches for an elementary school in Georgia.  This position allowed for me to work closely with other teachers to help guide their teaching of reading.  As always, my goal is to help EVERY student reach his or her potential.

Originally from Bennettsville, S. C., the fifth child of eight children born to Lucy and Hamp McIntyre, I was lucky enough to be the first born girl in our family.  Having six brothers invited continuous opportunities for competition.  I loved climbing trees, racing, riding bikes, playing basketball and participating in all of the activities that my brothers did. I also taught my youngest brother to read - thus my love for teaching.

Nowadays, I stay busy with my husband, Colin, two children: Alle and Paul and three grandchildren: Lucy (6 years old), Olivia (4 years old) and Louis (4 months old).  I enjoy teaching, running, reading, cleaning out closets, observing nature and eating junk food.
