NHS Student Government Association attended the South Carolina Association of Student Councils state convention at Easley High School this past weekend. We had nine delegates attend the convention.

The council was awarded gold honor council, in recognition of their activities, memberships, and procedures throughout the school year.

Lydia Kinard, student body president, was inducted into the Terry McCoy Leadership Hall of Fame for her natural leadership ability across the school and our community, her efficacy and her efficiency.

Councils are able to enter three projects for awards. Our council was awarded the following:

  • 1st place in the community service project category for the 2017 Spring Fling, which raised $4,000 for the March of Dimes
  • 2nd place in the school service project category for the Black History Month Program and Wax Museum
  • 3rd place in the recreational project category for their participation in the first NHS Fall Carnival

We appreciate the unending support of our teachers and student body to allow us to learn and grow as leaders at NHS.
